A New York auction of fine wine on Monday exceeded two million dollar in sales (i.e. an exact total of US$2,032,376), twice the estimates of Sotheby's, which sold most of the merchandise to clients in Asia and over the internet. The auction house had predicted sales totalling one to 1.5 million dollars. The five most expensive lots were sold to Asian clients, who paid US$48,400 for 12 bottles of 1990 Chateau Le Pin (from Pomerol in France's Bordeaux region) and US$36,300 for 3 magnums (3 litres, 3.17 quarts) of 1982 Chateau Lafite Rothschild. "The sale was a remarkable 98 per cent sold by lot and over 99 per cent sold by value." Sotheby's said in a statement.

蘇富比周一在紐約舉行的頂級紅酒拍賣會反應非常熱烈，總成交價超過200萬美元，是蘇富比原先估計的兩倍，而大部分買家來自亞洲，他們投得全場5種最貴的名酒，當中包括法國波爾多1990年份的Chateau Le Pin，以及1982年份的Chateau Lafite。　5種成交價最高的頂級名酒，買家全部來自亞洲，其中一箱12支的1990 Chateau Le Pin，成交價高達4萬8400美元。而3大瓶、即3公升裝的1982 Chateau Lafite，售價為3萬6300美元。　此外，一箱共12支的1990 Chateau Petrus，成交價亦達3萬250美元。　拍賣行原先估計成交價最高不過150萬美元，但結果出乎意料之外，因為買家反應熱烈，總成交價超過200萬美元。　今次蘇富比首次容許買家透過網上出價競投，結果吸引全球各地的買家紛紛上網喊價，令到網上交投佔了17%。　蘇富比指亞洲客人表現強勁，再一次帶動拍賣高潮，10種最貴名酒中，投得9種；而全場成交價最高的五種酒，也是亞洲買家包辦，實在銳不可擋。
